Synthetic Winch Rope?

I finally got my Winch mounted yesterday, I was trying to find posts about Synthetic Winch Rope but apparently my search skills are failing me right now.

What is everyone's though about switching over? and is there some thread I missed already out there on this (which I am sure there is)?

There are 1000's of discussions and articles on this stuff all over the interweb.

But basically....
Steel cable pro's: Stronger, tougher, cheaper.
Steel cable cons: Dangerous, can be kinked, heavy.

Synthetic rope pros: Safer, lighter, easier to work with, repairable on the trail.
Synthetic rope cons: More expensive, easier to damage.

Recently I purchased 50 feet of 5/16" Spectra rope from a cordage company in New Bedford, Ma. My intention was to use it windsurfing and I cut it down for that. However, it was too thick for most applications in that sport. Now I still have enough for a winch. It's supposed to be as strong as wire rope. I'm not sure, but now that I have found this thread, I am thinking about setting up some of my winches to try it. I don't use them much, but winches and come-alongs definitely can be useful.
