Intro Group Buy Feeler - CBI Offroad Fab - Group 31 Marine Battery Tray Kit

Hey guys,

I've been exchanging emails with Nathan over at @CBI OffRoad Fab about a Group 31 Marine Battery Tray Kit for the 3rd Generation 4Runners.

Sure, CBI could make a one-off for me, but the price would reflect that and would be disproportionately high relative to the cost of materials. To keep prices down, I'd like to get a list going of people who would be interested in such a product. *Admins/Mods - I apologize in advance if this violates any rules, but this thread would get lost in the CBI or Parts For Sale subforums.*

I like to give credit where it is due. @Brilliant spent his money and took a chance with the Slee Offroad 1998-07 Land Cruiser / LX470 Group 31 Battery Upgrade Tray with Bracket and modified it to fit his needs here. I want to respect his bandwidth, so I'm not going to hotlink images.

http://www.sleeoffroad.com/products/...1264-800-1.jpg

I'm assuming Slee designed the hold-down bracket to allow a little flexibility. Do you guys want that or do you want a snug fit like what Brilliant did with his?

The details are going to have to be finalized, but I'd imagine it would be very similar to the Slee tray:

CBI Offroad Fab Group 31 Marine Battery Tray Kit for 3rd Gen 4Runners
- Battery Tray with dimple-died holes (was: with recessed bolt holes)
- Battery Hold-Down Bracket with CBI Logo
- Utilizes OEM J-Hook (was: Replacement Extended J-Hook)
- Standard Powdercoat*
- Reuses All OEM Hardware
- Foam Strips

Pricing: Update 01/22 = $70 plus actual shipping. I'm checking with CBI as we speak and will update the thread accordingly. Similar to other group buys, I think there will be an initial discount price that would increase once the group buy is over.

Update 02/06 = Link to buy and final product picture.

T4R3 Battery Tray (Group 31 size) | CBI Offroad Fab

*I'm asking Nathan to check with his powdercoat guy to see if they can supply Poly Armor coating just like Slee. This is a rubberized corrosion and chemical resistant coating. Update 01/22 = Poly Armor is too cost-prohibitive.

PS: Sorry Slee, but if you showed the 3rd Gen T4Rs more love...

So I'll start off the list. Update 01/22 = Nathan said we need five (5) people and we can get this thing rolling. Turnaround will be approximately two (2) weeks after we get the first five.

It's hard to make a decision with out a ball park price. Is it 75 or 275 will have a huge impact on wether I decide to purchase this and a marine battery that fits.

As others have said, I am in as long as the price is not absurd.

I wish this was for a dual battery tray instead of just one big one

Sorry to say it won't work for me, the bracket on top looks like it will interfere with the type of battery terminals I run, damn was really looking forward to it and 70$ is a steal!
