Maxtrax

*** UPDATE *** I'm sorry guys but @chmura was right. MAXTRAX is not going to honor any Group Buys for the time being. MAXTRAX USA is having trouble keeping stock levels right now so giving us a discount is not in their best interests. This Group Buy is officially over.

If you are already thinking about picking up a set of these and can commit to BUYING a pair or a few pair of MAXTRAX please let me know via PM or response to this thread. I was surprised to see all of the options on their website so lets start with #1 How many pairs of MAXTRAX you want and #2 What color. If you want any accessories let me know.

Interested, but have a Maxtrax usage question and the Google isn't helping much. I regularly sleep in the back of my 4Runner and leveling it is sometimes a PITA. Would Maxtrax inclined on a rock or branch be suitable for overnight load bearing, or would they flex and eventually break with that sort of longterm load? Would appreciate any insight or experience someone might have.

John Bradshaw this is a pair of Maxtrax I bought 3 years ago I wanted to see if they really were worth the $ I paid for them and if it was worth using them with the mog. I still have them they are just as good as when i bought them. they have been used on dump trucks, various 4x4s and a couple of tractors

You can find this post ^^^ on Mid-Atlantic Overland Society on FB (its a closed group but you shouldn't have any trouble getting in). This guy has a picture of a MOG resting on a pair of MAXTRAX. I'm not sure how long he had the MOG resting on them, but he said he put a weight on them, left them out in the sun for a day and they were good as new. Still nested and couldn't tell them apart from his other MTs.

I was at the Overland Expo East last year and I saw a couple people leveling out their RTT and expo rigs with MTs so I would say they are good to go. That is a 4-5 day event for vendors.

Don't think so...

Would Maxtrax inclined on a rock or branch be suitable for overnight load bearing, or would they flex and eventually break

These, like others, are designed to be used as a supported traction mat. Bridging is not recommended. If you use them to raise a wheel, and they are supported where the tire sits, you will be fine.

Depending on the discount I'd be interested in a pair of MKII safety orange with the wheel harness.

Depending on a discount I would be interested in another pair. One thing I realized it I have a set of Treds, but I realized quickly for quicker, better extraction I need 2 more to help out better.

^^^ Exactly.

UPDATED: I was contacted by a T4R member who told me about a MT GB on a Tacoma forum last year. That GB was able to negotiate $50 off per pair so that is what I am hoping for. I will provide updates as they become available.

Yeah I recall seeing a GB in the past where they were $200 a set vs $300.

I have looked into the mounting pins because I am interested in them as well. It looks like some drilling will be required, but more information can be found in this discussion on T4R.ORG Maxtrax mounting options and on the MT webpage Mounting Pin Set Instructions | MAXTRAX
