The outboard CVs utilize our Dana 60 architecture with combination of 4340 & 300M components optimized for maximum strength. The center bar is 35 spline 300M, the strongest in the industry.
Basically it is a bulletproof IFS setup for half the price of a new SAS. I want to maintain the on-road drivability of my 4Runner so this seems like the best and strongest option to still balance maximum off-road ability with on-road smoothness and drivability.

I've ridden in 3 linked/4 linked sas'd rigs on and off road that ride better than a brand new Cadillac. It's all in the build. You're truck isn't going to ride smoother with this axle set. That's in the suspension.
There's also no such thing as "bomb proof". There's always a weaker link. Our front diff is nowhere near comparable to solid axle strength. I've seen plenty people blow out 8" diff's on their SAS'd rigs, a 7.5" isn't going to be much better. Strengthening the outer component will only leave the inner components the weak point.
If someone GAVE me a set of these I'd still debate using them. It's much easier and cheaper to replace a cv axle than my front diff, which mind you is a $1600 diff (geared and arb locker).

RCV GB - Count me in!
I have also been calling them to keep up with this and would love to have a set... For everyone saying that adding these to your rig will make the front diff a weak point I agree with you but the way I see it with proper gearing and a strong full case locker (ARB) or something like the Detroit Truetrac you will be adding to the the front diffs strength. Couple this with the solid CV bushing from ECGS to eliminate the excess play with the shafts and some reasonably careful driving and I think you have a viable alternative to an SAS... Not to mention I have an 02 so this way I can retain my A-Trac.
Just my .02; Anyways count me in for a set Summit

Are these compatible up front with a Truetrac? I was of the impression the only way to install Truetrac upfront required machining your CV. I have a 99 and couldn't find the CVIFS-Toy 1 on their site. Will these work with lockout hubs? Even if they do, CVIFS-Toy 1 is probably not the right axle ... probably need one from a 95 - 04 Tacoma.

I spoke with ECGS a while ago and they stated the Truetrac will work with some machining of the diff housing .... the RCV's should slip right in as long as the splined portion of the inner joint is the right length and has a properly sized c-clip.
In your case having manual hubs may affect the compatibility with the CV's but that would have to do with the outer joint iirc.
The RCV's are not on the site because they are yet to be released ... in fact who knows if they ever will be lmao

OK. I sent the OP a PM a few days ago and haven't heard anything back. I also called and spoke with RCV on Thursday. They have finished the 3rd Gen CV's and they are now for sale.
I stumbled on this thread in my research a few months ago. Since then I've kept an eye on it hoping to see some life back in it. Since there's not much going on I am reaching out to the folks mentioned above to see if there is any interest in actually doing a group buy for these. If there is I will start a new thread.
I am planning on ordering these within 2 weeks max so this will happen fast if your still interested. If you guys are please quote this thread so I can get a notification.
The list price for the 3rd gen CV is $1995.
Thanks

It's all good guys. I ended up not waiting and ordered them at 12:30 today. They'lll be here early next week.
I used Eric at Yotamasters. He's a damn fine shop that I've done some other business with before. I saved a few bucks and he made a few bucks. It was a win/win. If you ever decide to get them give him a call and tell him Matt with the dual cases from Bishop told you to call.

Bringing this one back to life to see if the axles were worth the money?
Would you do it again, knowing what you know now?
Thanks!

I've wheeled the hell out of those CV's for almost a year. I haven't had to change one since putting the RCV's in. I would do it again without any reservations. It's so nice to be able to use my front locker whenever I need to without worrying about breaking CV's.

Never wheeled my T4R but setting it up to do so. I never thought IFS was that great for serious off roading with the CV weakness. Looking at all the videos of guys wheeling the crap out of them has me with a new found respect. I dont know how modified they are but most were not locked up front.
Why would a locked front cause breakage over a non-locked. I would think it would be the other way around??
BTW I thought about a SAS but getting back into the T4R I just dont want to lose that ride quality.
