RCV CV Axle Potential Group Buy
Hey Guys,
After months of waiting, RCV has developed a set of CV axles for the 3rd gen 4Runner!!! I have been in touch with them for over 6 months now and they are also releasing other Generation IFS Toyota axles into production roughly the same time as GEN3(Mid to late May) I figured I would see if we had enough interest here to do a group buy and try to save everybody some $$$.
The models available are below
CVJIFS-TOY1 - Tacoma 95-05 & 4 runner 95-04
CVJIFS-TOY2 - FJ Cruiser 07-14 & 4 runner 03-present & Tacoma 05-present & Lexus GX470 03-09 & GX460 10-13
CVJIFS-TOY3 - 4 runner 86-95 & Pickup 88-95 & Nissan Pickup 95 & Isuzu Rodeo 89-95 & Isuzu Amigo 89-94 & Isuzu Trooper 88-91 & Honda Passport 94-95
CVJIFS-TOY4 - Land Cruiser 98-07 & Lexus LX470 98-07
CVJIFS-TOY5 - Tundra 07-present & Sequoia 08-13
CVJIFS-TOY6 - Hilux 05-15 KUN26R* (international model)
As of now I know that the pricing will be $1995-$2295 for the axles listed above. I can't get definite discount numbers yet, but the more people we add, the better discount we will receive. There is no min/max
"RCV Ultimate IFS CV Axles for Independent Front Suspension are designed to overcome the limitations of Toyota FJ Cruiser, 4 Runner, and Tacoma IFS axle shafts. Ultimate IFS CV Axles provide increased strength that original equipment axle shafts just can't match. Even if you have big tires and big power there are no worries. Ultimate IFS CV Axles are low maintenance, and are backed with a "No Questions Asked" limited lifetime warranty. Our IFS CV axles meet and exceed the strength of a straight axle swap, while allowing you to maintain the traction, smoothness and control of your IFS. Ultimate IFS CV Axles are race proven, and used by racers in XRRA, Off Road Racing, and the TORC series. Put the power down with confidence!"
Yes, they are pricey but you get what you pay for and anybody I know running them swears by them. These are the strongest CV axles on the planet!!!
These will be built to order so those running larger body and suspension lifts and or long travel kits can have custom length shafts to address extreme angle issues.
To be added to the list please post in this thread saying “Please add me”. Once you submit that post, we will update the GB master list and add your username.
Let's make this happen!

Exactly why I am trying to get a GB going! Tell your friends! I have gone through 4 cv axles in 1 year with the lifts I am running and would rather spend more time wheeling and not worrying/replacing cv axles!

Holy hell... What makes these so much better than stock that they cost so much more?? I can buy 10 CVJ reman axles with the silicone boot for that price... Are these made of unobtanium or something??
I've never heard of people blowing through CV axles. Boots yes, but not the axle itself. What am I missing here?

To put it in the most basic terms, they're built with premium strength components and configured to reduce stress at maximum flex. Additionally they will allow for more flex over factory axles.
------------
Unless someone is wanting premium cv's for a custom build (long travel for instance), majority of the people here wont ever need these. Unless you just have money to blow.
The 4th gen 4Runner, 2nd gen Tacoma and FJ sets of these are $2495.00. I would venture to say that the 3rd gen's will likely be around the same price.
I will note, to keep in mind when you upgrade this component to be more "bomb proof", you'll be taking out more compromised components in the event of breakage. In this case, your front diff will be next in line to do so.

Well to start they have a No Questions Asked" limited lifetime warranty. Ive gone through 4 cv axles in less than a year due to the extreme angle on them now with ~5" of overall lift and running bigger wheels/tires. Just sick of dealing with and worrying about my cv's.

Well no, many people wont " need them" but a lot of things on builds are not necessary, its a big want factor for a lot of things. RCV has stated to me that pricing will initially be $1995-$2295, so slightly better than the others.
That is very true, that by making the cv's "bomb proof" your next weak link will be the front diff.

I thought about that considerably but the RCV "IFS CV axles meet and exceed the strength of a straight axle swap, while allowing you to maintain the traction, smoothness and control of your IFS." And solid axle swap would probably run me double the $$$.
The axles feature a double-offset inboard CV joint that is comprised by 1-inch balls and 300M internal components. The outboard CVs utilize our Dana 60 architecture with combination of 4340 & 300M components optimized for maximum strength. The center bar is 35 spline 300M, the strongest in the industry.
Basically it is a bulletproof IFS setup for half the price of a new SAS. I want to maintain the on-road drivability of my 4Runner so this seems like the best and strongest option to still balance maximum off-road ability with on-road smoothness and drivability.

Yes, I would agree with you on the drivability on road is better with ifs. I would still rather carry a spare cv. I wheel my 4runner hard never had a problems with the cvs. But again I am light on the pedal. RCV makes good axles, dont get me wrong. I have set on my pickup crawler which is Soild axle swap.
