The awesome guys at Ecotechne are offering us an awesome deal on full length roof racks for our 5th gen runners! I received mine last week and I absolutely love the contour of the rack and how it flows with the body, it almost looks like a Trail Edition rack off of the 2010-2013.

. 2.5mm cold rolled steel.

. Maximum weight it will support is 992lb.

Yes! They are there for lighting. I just put in 4 round 7" LEDS on mine. I'll post photos.

I have an awning that I'm going to place on mine. I'll get back to you on how I plan on doing it.

Questions (I apologize if I missed these details somewhere):

It looks like those 4 indentions on the front are made to hold individual light mounts. Is that your plan Rorck? On the Ecotechne website, it shows those 4 indentions with like a separate infill triangle piece that bumps up, instead of leaving the indention open like it is on your rig. Do these racks in the group buy come with those 4 infills?

Based on the photos, it looks like there are 5 areas where cross bars can be mounted and each area has 3 screw holes. It looks like the trays fill in the gaps between the cross bars. So, would it be safe to say that if you did not have a sunroof and you wanted the entire top to be a rack floor, your would need 5 cross bars and 4 trays? I'm not interested in that many, I just want to best understand where all of these bars and trays are eligible to be mounted.

If the rack uses the mounts in place with no drilling, then is that entire front area basically floating? If you use body weight and pull down on that, does it come in contact with the roof?

You obviously have this already mounted on your rig and I'm curious what your impression of wind noise is.

I will post pics this evening on what I did with them. In my opinion they look killer with the LED pods but I'm sure a lot of people won't be to happy with what I did.

As for the second question, yes if you got enough crossbars and plates you'd ese able to cover the whole roof solid I got a video of how it cann be mounted last night but I can't get it uploded. Also It does clear the shark fin if you don't go all the way back to the last hole.

The rack uses the factory mounting points so it does free float toward the top but agai, it is solid! I was iffy about how that would hold so when I first installed the rack, I paced the tray towards the front, sat on it and nothing moved.

Over all I'm very happy with it. I wish they had mounts for shovels, lifts and other accessories but after a lot of feedback they are now working on releasing more options.

I'm not sure I would run those inserts I was just curious if it came with them. Yes, I am curious what you did up there and look forward to seeing your pics. I love your rig. I actually think the 4 separate lights would look killer if done in a low-profile style but have to be careful not to get too Jeep Liberty-ish. Would definitely stand out from the long light bar crowd and give some practical individual aiming opportunities.

Seems like you could tap drill it to mount anything you wanted.


Sorry to rifle fire questions but here are two more - you didn't mention anything about the wind noise. Could you speak to that based on the new rack versus your old rack? Also, I know you run a Gobi ladder in the rear (I think). Does it look seamless sense these are from two different manufacturers? Any issues there?
