Is that how this device works?

I wouldn't imagine a case would have much, if any, negative impact. The ones with the cradle are generally considered to be single user devices where the ones with the internal antenna are considered multi-user devices.

It is best to mount the internal antenna close to where you will be using the phone. One of the YouTube videos I watched they guy showed how much better the boost was when the phone was 1-2" from the internal antenna.

Also, worth mentioning that the "Drive Reach" (basically the red one) is the latest and greatest. It is supposed to have double the uplink power, which in turn gets better communication with the towers and can reach towers further away.

I'd be interested in the Drive 4G-X OTR. Sign me up depending on prices.

I was looking into these a couple of weeks ago and found this video review. This guy says that the Drive Reach is the newer model and is better than the Drive 4G-X. The Drive reach does not come with have the OTR antenna, but he does say it's a must have.

Anyways here's the video review.

I wonder if it's really worth getting the Drive Reach + OTR antenna for ~$600 vs. just getting the Drive Sleek OTR for $280... If multi-user is not a requirement that is. I'd be curious to know the performance difference.

Was considering for the travel trailer, but figured it made more sense to mount on the truck. Anyone with experience know the drawback to mounting on the truck and using inside the trailer? Model recommendations?

PM sent - I need to know possible discount before committing.

I would only mount it wherever you plan to use it. Both the internal (communicates with your phone) and external antenna (communicates with cell tower) are connected via physical cable.

If it were me, I'd go with mounting on the truck for 2 reasons. First, you don't always have the trailer connected, so it'll likely get more use on the truck. Second, do you really want to be camping away from society just to connect back with society?

I got mine to help with cell reception on remote stretches of highway, but I don't plan to use it while camping unless there is an emergency.

I know some individuals who have antennas set up in both trailer and car then just move a single booster where they are going to use. I'm somewhat in the same boat now looking for a booster for the trailer to work from the road. Need it in the car while traveling and then push it to the trailer when camp set up. Some vendors offer packages where antennas for both installs are provided with just a single booster. For me, I am looking at the Drive Reach with OTR antenna for the car and OTR external/RV internal antenna for the trailer.

Would be good to know if the vendor for the group buy only does standard packages or if there are bundles available like several other vendors offer. Depending on discount/bundles it may, or may not, be cost-effective to participate in the group buy.
