After I made a comment on another member's post about signal strength, I received a PM from someone giving me a more technical explanation of how to measure signal strength. I think my comment was something along the lines of "So you went from 2 bars to 5 bars for the laymans like myself." Regardless, it seems as though the number of bars is not a good measure of signal strength as it can vary by phone (i.e. iPhone vs Samsung vs LG, etc.). For those who want to dive into a little more, here's the article: How to Check Your Phone'''s Signal Strength | dBm & Top Apps
For those who don't want to read the article, I'll summarize. Signal strength is measured in decibels, much like that of sound. However, it isn't the same dB as sound, but rather dBm. Don't ask what the m stands for. If you cared that much you'd have read the article. but the closer to 0 the better.
Before turning on my WeBoost Drive Reach OTR Fleet model, I was pretty constant at -110 dBm. As you can see on my phone, I had approximately 2 bars (again, arbitrary and not a good measure). This dBm measurement was not constant. It fluctuated a bit. The worst that I saw was -114 dBm and the best was probably -97 dBm. Regardless, -110 dBm seemed to be the "return to normal" after brief changes in signal strength either direction, so that's what I'm going to use as my baseline for the un-boosted signal.
After powering on the booster, it seemed to be pretty consistently -76 or -77 dBm.
So that's an overall improvement of about 34 dBm. and a 38 dBm improvement if you go from worst to best.
I found that signal strength was best when the phone was within about 3" of the internal antenna. My WeBoost owners manual calls for mounting the internal antenna 18 to 16" away from the intended use area of the phone. I did find signal improvement in this range, but not as good as the 2-3" area.
I often find myself using the Bluetooth in my truck and keeping my phone in the cupholder area of the center console. I think I'm going to permanently mount the internal antenna in the area below the AC controls.

Good find. I haven't gotten that far out to really test it, but in the city with 2-3 bars I assumed this booster would give me instant 5 bars and it doesn't seem to. I was worried maybe it wasn't working or compatible with a case (I got a cradle model), but now that I've found my dBm reading I'll have to compare the numbers on and off the weBoost. Thanks!

Guys, if you want to know discount information - initiate a PM.
If you are too new to initiate a PM, email me. Email was posted earlier in the thread.

Yeah, they are supposed to send me a new kit with the labels and such to ship this back. I sent them a pic of the serial number on the box so they can track someone that may have stolen the other one (UPS or access point person maybe).

Ordered a 4G X OTR late last week and it showed up early this week. I shopped around extensively prior to the group buy and I guarantee that you won't find a lower price.
As for mounting, I'm running stock cross bars and figured I'd get the thing first and then see about mounts. The mounts that come with it are a bit narrow for the cross bars. If you had some longer bolts, I imagine you could make it work. I opted to order a Comet mount from the advice on this thread:
Weboost mounted with Ram Mount (updated)
Course, there was some advice suggesting Comets suck, but hey, it was $45 and doesn't require aftermarket cross bars.
Aiming to get the heck out of dodge this weekend and test it out. Will post pics once it's mounted.

Crazy to see that the "Cell Booster" was missing from your package. I had gotten complete with my install and went to plug in the outside antenna and found the cable adapter missing. Thankfully the Alltech Source Team was helpful with the situation, just awaiting the package to arrive.
For those with questions, I'll post pictures soon. I routed the everything under the carpet and through the pillars and center console using a coat hanger to assist in guiding the cable. Overall incredibly clean look when you have two young boys jumping around the 4runner on any given day. For mounting the outside antenna, I have a GOBI Stealth Rack and used all RAM products to secure the OTR Antenna Truck Edition. I used the following part numbers and ordered through Amazon in the event they wouldn't work.
RAM Torque Medium Rail Base
RAM Composite Double Socket Arm
RAM 9mm Angled Bolt Head Adapter Ball Base

The Drive Reach OTR Fleet 471254 is the same thing except it comes with a hardwired charger instead of a 12v cigarette plug.
