2022 Lexus GX 460 Luxury Interior | Detailed Walkthrough

I just test drove a new ‘22 GX yesterday. Once I found out they finally updated the center stack I have started to consider it. I was a little disappointed honestly, even though I’d seen the very modest output numbers of the 4.6L, I expected the extra 2 cylinders and 6-speed to be a bigger jump up from the 4.0L. Haven’t spent much time in Toyota/Lexus SUVs, but I’m gradually learning what to expect from them.

Bought a ‘21 T4R last year, and it’s the first V6 I’ve ever owned. Coming from a 6.7 diesel, it has been very eye-opening (and frustrating) getting back into a NA gas vehicle. Now I just need to find someone who will let me drive their supercharged 4Runner so I can answer that pervasive question: should I call Magnuson or should I just move up to a GX?

If they’re still using the A760 6AT just remember gears 1-5 have the same ratio as the A750 5AT in the 4Runner the 6th gear is only an additional overdrive at 0.66:1.

Yes the 4.6 is very disappointing in the lower RPM ranges. But it is much better than the 4.0. Takes 1000 rpm less to make its torque. But after a deisel, or most big V-8's it's hard to get used to. It likes to spin.

I want a selectable locker in the rear, decent break over angles. A complete skid plate over the gas tank. A rear window defroster that works when its cold out. And so much more. Oh well.
