Fuel economy is a serious downside to these trucks IMO. I track every tank on fuelly.com, it's showing a best of 12.4L/100km (18.9mpg), and an average of 17L/100km (13.9mpg), mixed driving (2/3 city).

Thanks for the response Ian! i had a feeling it may be a bit more than the 3.4 i have in the 4runner. I may still go check the vehicle out.

They are great vehicles, if you can deal with the thirst, lol.

I don't see the fuel mileage as being so bad. I have a light foot, and generally get better mileage than most people. However, my wife usually does worse. I don't know what people expect moving 5000 lbs around. Racing from stop light to the next stoplight. Much of poor gas mileage can be controlled buy a little planning. But anyway, My wife would do well getting almost 12mpg in the 98 Grand Cherokee. I never see less than 15 since I have been driving it. She is seeing mid 15's in the gX. The GX is far heavier (roughly 1000 lbs), and larger than the GC.
On the short trips (mostly mountain driving 115 miles) that we have taken, we see just over 20 mpg. Niece's 2016 TRDpro 4 Runner does slightly better around town, and about the same on the highway. So considering it's basically a truck, I don't think its too bad. Sure you can buy a glorified minivan SUV and do better. But is that what you wanted? Something like a Q7. No low range, no protection, can you put a winch on it etc. If that's what you want, you bought the wrong car.

Thats about right on the mileage, my 2004 4runner has the same power train and is similar. Mine has a 3 inch lift and a little bigger tires but gets around 11-12mpg... 8-9 when I pull our 4,500 lb boat.
Are you going to lift yours at all? You have the stock air suspension right?

Stock front end, rear is converted to FJ Cruiser springs using the SSO kit (sits about 1/2" taller than air suspension on "N" setting). No plans to lift as this is my wife's DD.

Snapped a couple pics with the roof rack removed, I prefer the look a lot!

Looks good without the roof rack. I might have to go this route. I think you commented on my thread in ClubLexus.

That's not a GX, and start your own thread another time.

Last week I replaced the LCA's, UCA's, and front swaybar bushings with OEM Toyota parts, and installed Dobinsons 1.5F/1R springs and twintube shocks (in black), it's a huge improvement over the worn out stock stuff!
I hit a deer in the fall, fought to keep it from getting written off with insurance, and I'm going to be booking it in to have the bodywork repaired shortly. I'll be using new OEM Sport trim headlights as well, can't wait to get it all back to top shape!

Got the bodywork done and picked the truck up last night, very happy with the work! Whole front end except the passenger fender/flare are new, mirror caps and rear bumper got refinished as well, accounting for 90% of the exterior flaws it had.
Need to figure out what I'm doing with the foglight holes, repaint the tow hitch, install the wellvisors window visors, and a few other odds and ends, but I'm very happy with where it sits for now.
