Lifted Lexus GX460 Takes On the CliffHanger 2.0 Off-Road Review - The Fast Lane Truck

A stock Lexus GX460 has 8.1 inches of ground clearance. This is good for many off-road adventures and for the daily grind, but it’s not quiet enough for some difficult off-roading. Cliffhanger 2.0 is an extreme Rocky Mountain trailer that takes anyone who dares to just above tree line for a gorgeous view of the continental divide. It’s very steep and packed full with large loose rocks that are just waiting there to trip you up. The trail also has a section with a fork in the road. It is now called Truth or Dare. The “truth” is difficult, but the “dare” is even harder.

The 4.6L V8 produces 301 hp and 329 lb-ft of torque, which plenty for extreme high altitude off-roading. A 6-speed automatic transmission sends power to a robust 4×4 system. This GX does not have a locking rear differential, but there is a button to lock the transfer case so equal power goes to the front and the rear.

This particular GX460 has a 3-inch OME suspension lift and slightly larger BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires. There is no air suspension on this model. All together, this Lexus is riding about 3.75 inches higher than stock, for a total ground clearance of nearly 12 inches. Otherwise, this Lexus does not have any other modifications. The A-TRAC system is still there to help find traction. Will this be enough to complete the Cliffhanger 2.0?
