2005 lexus gx470, 200k miles...$12500 sale price...Crazy???
So I have a coworker who has a used 2005 gx470, 200k miles, pearl white, looks clean outside, inside... said he paid $18k 5yrs ago.. So now he wants to sell it for $12k.... crazy, nuts or reality pricing?? And he says if he doesn't get his $12k... then he will just keep it, but really I think he's hurting for $$..
I see local sales from dealers with less miles, same or better condition for way less $$$....

At any other time in history I'd say they're crazy but with what I see other trucks in the same mileage selling for around here it's not out of line with the current market. With that said if you dont need the truck I'd wait and see what things do.

In the Wash D.C. area...that model year, with less mileage...seeing $7k-$10K tops.
i'd pass...he might get that number from someone not doing their research...but that's a $5,000 truck IMHO

Damn you struck gold on that assuming the prior owner didn't drive it like Ricky Bobby on the high speed oval.

just picked one up on xmas eve
I just got my first gx470 at 140k for $7k. but my frame is shot. didn't inspect it. never thought lexus would make a premature rust rotting frame. I would've paid the extra $1500 John in NC got it for. Actually I would've even paid more for it had I known.
But 250k you can find them around here for around 5k.

I'd be happy to get $12,500 for my 2005 w/ Sport Package (KDSS, etc) that has 172,000 miles. Paid about $22,000 in 2010 at a dealer auction when odo was at 52,000; market was in high 20's at the time.
But mine's not for sale. I think the current market may be nuts indeed. But if you want one, it may be necessary to ante-up. I'd guess it would be a home-run value compared to a similarly specd 4R or any other mid-size SUV. The key is intercepting a potential tarde in unit before a dealer low-balls it. My neighbor was just robbed of a nice 2010 GX460 by the Tesla dealer in order to get a used Model S. Had he known what the enthusiast demand is, he could have come away with a few thousand more in his pocket.
Keep up the hunt!

This is on point. The market is bananas; particularly here in the PNW. I have wanted a 470 for a while and finally pulled the trigger on one a couple weeks ago. I paid more than I should have, but I just wasn't willing to buy one sight unseen from the east coast and have it shipped. I paid $14k for a 2008 with 160k (I know), but it is a SW car with ZERO rust, a cherry interior, great tires, and a dealer service history.
Still think it's a better value when compared to the used 4Runner market. I also just sold a Tundra for more than I paid for it 2 years ago, so at least the crazy market is working both ways.

I have a question. I'm in negotiating with a dealer who has a 2017 GX460 with 38822 miles on it. The price is currently at 42188. I'm just looking for a ball park figure. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Just paid 13500 for a 05 with 127k miles. Super clean, no accidents. I feel like I over paid if you look at prices 2 years ago. But when you look at prices currently, especially here in Southern California, I got a smoking deal. I couldn't find one with less than 140k for under $20k unless it had a salvage title.
Fyi, Illinois has a couple dealers that for some reason sell gx470's cheap. But watch out for rust.

I'm currently looking at 2007 GX470 w/ 203k miles for $15k (definitely a seller's market).
The service history is pretty detailed, regularly serviced with some issues and servicing arising between mile 165k-190k before being sold over 200k miles.
Three previous owners all in CA & NV. Timing belt/h20 pump changed at 165k.
Unspecified service at a Transmission Shop after 145k miles.
Should I be concerned buying at such a high mileage?

I just paid 11k for a 2006 with 210k miles on it in PNW. However it was super clean, 1 owner, all service records for every 5 to 10k miles at local lexus dealership, no rust, and all major service recently done with fluid flush. Market is crazy nuts right now, but I also sold my 2016 4runner for with 60k miles for the price I paid for it brand new.
