After having a few conversations with Runner owners, it makes me glad I opted for the GX. The steroid version of the runner. After a few of these conversations, I think if we had bought a Runner, it would be LONG gone in favor of something else. That feeling was solidified when i took a short ride in my nieces TRDPRO. The GX is so much more car and worth every additional penny, many times over. Just wish I had the locker in the rear (and front, live axle too).

As an update my wife has been daily driving the new-to-us GX470 for a couple of weeks now and it is solid. I am super happy with it. Right out of the gate I had to do some work on it but I spent no more than a couple hundred bucks. CV axle, Serpentine belt & tensioner/pulleys, rear air bags, and front sway bar bushings. The rear calipers were in bad shape, I think one was sticking causing a vibration. I just took them apart and cleaned them up, 0$. I also balanced the tires and got an alignment. It drives like a brand new truck, it is amazing.

It was a 1-owner vehicle serviced at a local dealership. I was able to go onto the Lexus owner's website and with the VIN# view the service history. A couple months back it had a lot of work done to it, exhaust manifold on one side and some other stuff. Probably cost a fortune. Then a month after that it went back to the dealer and they wanted to replace the aux air crap that pumps into the exhaust. Also they wanted to do the air bags. As you probably know there is a cheap effective go-around for the air pump stuff. They probably quoted her $5,000 (that air pump crap is super expensive to fix) for the repairs and she had enough after the manifold a few months prior and traded it in. I win.

You always need to bring the maintenance up to date when you buy used. It's sort of expected. The previous owners when they knew they were getting rid of it, they start neglecting things. So bringing the maintenance up is pretty expected. Generally not a big deal Congrats on the new ride.
