8.2 in a GX questions.

Hello everyone! After 9 years on the 3rd Gen forum I have added a GX470 to our collection of Toyotas. Although this new to me vehicle has some nice mods already, I would eventually like to add a locker, or two, and gear it for better slow roll. After reading on different sites and forums, it seems the 8" is probably not the axle to mod. Now I'm not building a serious rock crawler, but I don't want to invest in an axle that would not withstand a little push. My questions are kind of basic, but although people love to tell you how weak the 8" is, I can't seem to find a 8.2 swap thread that gives any details.

I'd like to know if the FJ cruiser axle allows for retention of existing abs, disc brakes, and e-brake set up.

I'd like to know if the WMS measurement stays the same.

Is there an easy way to identify an 8.2" axle, I will eventually be bargain hunting for a complete axle with 3rd member I can build. Don't want to get fooled.

Does anyone have a link to a build thread or video?

Thanks in advance!

I already have a giant pig, I don't need to build another one. Weight is an issue already, so I'll stay with the 8.2". For the record I have broken two 9.5's with the rear ARB locked so although that is in 26 years of wheeling (I have no intention of changing that set up) a 7K rig, they aren't without their own problems.

That said, I could just leave it alone, or I could build a DynaTrak or Currie. Neither is in my plan. Thank you.

I'm still running the 8.0" in mine, but I've seen several threads on the GXOR FB group regarding the swap. Probably the best place to search for this kind of thing.
