I just pulled mine off on a warm day. I tried the dental floss method at first, but was it was SLOOOW going -- damned floss kept breaking, so I just started using my fingers, now that worked like a charm. Once I started using my fingers, it took 15 minutes to have the entire vehicle de-badged/de-pinstriped.

99% of the adhesive came off with the lettering, the rest...a clay bar was more than able to remove.

There are 2 pins (at least on my '05) on the rear Toyota symbol below the wiper blade. IMO Goo-Gone didnt work that well. I would suggest AFTA which is another spot remover. Ive used it on auto exteriors before without incident.

does anyone know if that hairdryer method also works on removing the pinstripe/decals on the side of gen2 models?

i've tried "Goo Gone" but that's way too much work to keep rubbing in and out.

I would recommend leaving them (decal/pin-stripe) on at this time due to possible fading.

On the older trucks there will be a little fading of the paint and will be noticeable when you take the pinstripe off.

I FINALLY did my truck today after much debating, and I am HAPPY with the look sans badges! It took me nearly 4 hrs to do it though.....fvkin PITA honestly. It just took alot of time AND LOTS of elbow grease.
I used an old hair dryer, goo gone/wd40 and powerpro fishing line (basically dental floss on super steroids) and meguiars clay bar.
I could get 95% of the gunk off, but using the claybar in the end SEALED THE DEAL.....
My truck is 45 months old, parked always outside and there was zero fading. Once i was finished I hit the spots were the emblems USED to be with a couple layers of wax...

fyi- I had both driver side doors repainted a couple years ago after being side swiped nascar style and when they put the emblems back on they used a different and stronger adhersive than what was stock.....it was much harder to get off..... but that may not apply to most...

It seems to me like thee emblems are stuck on with basically the same dual sticky adhesive that things like vent visors use..... heat, elbow grease, patience and some solvents are your friend!

It took much longer than I thought, but I think it looks quite a bit smoother. better than I thought from previous folks pics

Hairdryer, dental floss and goof off works well

I never realized how old this thread was! I’ve been trying to slowly remove some chrome from my Limited.
I removed my Limited side pilar model labels off of a 2016.
They are only held on with two sided tape. A hair dryer heats it up. The dental floss either cuts the tape or gives you a way to grab it and delicately pull it off without scratching your car. You can then delicately pull any residual tape off with your fingernails. Then use goof off to rub the rest of the tape and adhesive off.
I polished it with some Maguires scratch remover 2. And then waxed it. Looks good!

These came off a 2016 in 2021. So on there 4-5 years. You can only see the faintest trace fade shadow of where they were and would have to know they were there.

I also removed the wheel caps and gently removed the Toyota chrome logos. I replaced them with stick on 2” solid black wheel hub caps to cover the mounting holes for the chrome logo.

If you had it, you could use SpiderWire fishing line size of dental floss and strong as hell.

I used fishing line and a heat gun. Unfortunately, one of the badges took the clear coat with it, so be careful. On my 3rd gen, the only badge with pins is the rear toyota symbol.
