I'll go to turn the key and the power will just cut, before it even has a chance to try and turn over.
I'll get out, jostle the positive battery cable a bit, and then it will start. Sometimes I have to this several times before it will start.
Today however, no amount of jostling will produce a decent enough connection. I've cleaned the posts and cable heads and have made sure that all of the wires are properly attached with no breakage that I can see. I've traced to cable to the starter and there doesn't appear to be any issue there either.
I'm stumped, any information you could provide would be immensely helpful!

if the cable connection was bad for long enough, maybe now the battery is just dead. try charging it.
