need some advice

Hi,

I just bought a 2003 4R-LTD-V8 with 38K Kms on it. I plan on putting Amsoil ASL 5W30 with the EaO filter in it but was wondering if it is advisible to also change out the oils in the tranny and diffs/transfer case(type SVG gear oil) and the long life coolant. The Amsoil dealer is suggesting it would be a good move. Now I'm sure it's partly a sales pitch as well, not to say that their products aren't good but are the products in the stock vehicle in need of changing. The weather up here can vary anywhere between 30+ C to -30C.

Thanks for all replys and advice.

I change all my fluids at 30 k miles intervals: coolant, both diffs, transfer case, tranny. I also siphon out the brake fluid and power steering pump reservoirs and top up with fresh fluids.

Hi Greasefingers,

Every 30K you do a complete fluid change out, wow. Do you use original Toyota oils etc?

Hmmm, over 54 views and only one reply, I thank you for time and reply. I suppose I could find more opinions if I were to search and read for a half a day or so I just thought it might save alittle time this way. Didn't mean to waste bandwidth.

Amsoil is good stuff, but I wouldn't use hte EaO filter. Use a OEM Toyota filter while the truck is still under warranty. Plus, the Toyota oil filter is a quality filter.

30k km = 23k miles. If you know the history of the service, then continue on with the scheduled maintenance. If you don't know or have any proof of maintenance, then I would recommend changing all fluids.

The only OEM fluids I use are the tranny & coolant.
