Grease spots on hood, any ideas where it came from?

With a 6wk old little one now in the house I have neglected the some of the cosmetic upkeep on my 5th Gen. The other day I noticed some oil/grease spots on the hood where the headlight, hood, and grill all meet. This material is present on both sides at the exact same point, but at nowhere else. I can only guess that I typically don't see it because I'm better at maintenance. Any idea what this is or where it could be coming from?

I get this exact same thing. It's not from the road, if you pop the hood it is also all underneath the hood as well. Still haven't figured out what it is.

I noticed that it was behind the bezel of the headlights as well. I thought it was odd for road grime to only be on those two points.

Wondering if perhaps its some grease or adhesive coming off of the hood insulation panel when at higher temps and leaking forward until it cools and solidifies at those points.

bumping this thread, I just noticed the exact same problem on my 14 TE. Anyone else having this issue? Its definitely grease or oil, not road grime.

absolutely not, it almost seems as though it is coming from the holes on the underside of the hood. I know this is an old thread but I wish the OP could chime in again on this

I haven't ever been able to figure out where it is coming from, I have a few guesses, but they are just that, guesses. It still shows up if I go more than a few weeks between washes, but hasn't negatively affected the finish (even though it is the most easily damaged paint I've ever known), and no other adverse issues have arisen. I just write it off as a minor inconvenience, and am thankful its not noticeable and is easily cleaned with a little mild degreaser.

CV boots, bad band clamps?

Engine bay pics?

My mom had a 80's Landcruiser that always had grease all over the frame, dealer called it a 'frame drip' ... whatever that BS is.
I never did figure out what it was.
Was before these grease undercoating.

Engine bay pics would be extremely boring. Nothing out of the ordinary there. No leaks, drips, etc... in fact the engine bay is generally cleaner that that little point on the hood.

The only thing that makes sense is the air flow over that part of the vehicle collecting road grime at highway speeds. It will inevitably come back like clock work without frequent washing/degreasing of that area.

I thought it could be some sort of material off gassing from the hood liner that rolls down the front of the hood and is pushed out by wind at highway speed, but the vehicle is 6 years old (2015 MY purchased in Oct. 14), so anything like that should have subsided by now.
