Restoring clearcoating on rims

I picked up a set of split spoke stock rims with peeling clear coat. I only needed one for my spare but could never find just one, purchased a set of four for less than buying a single wheel on eBay.

Most of the clear coat is gone, I think I can easily remove the remnants. Have people found a DIY clear coat to keep them from getting aluminum corrosion/powder forming or a heavy duty wax?

Just remove the old clear coat, scuff, clean, and hit it with some SprayMax 2K clear. That stuff is the best.
