Mystery Dent

So this mysterious dent appeared overnight on my new-to-me T4R. No idea how it got there, or how it could have even happened.

I'm thinking it would be easy to bang out from the inside. Does anyone have any experience removing the interior panels in that part of the car? Thanks for any help.

I'd say somebody doesn't like you, your vehicle or where you parked. (Maybe all three.)

The dent looks like a decent candidate for Paintless Dent Removal (PDR), but I'd suggest having somebody who's done PDR take a look at it. If you've never done it before, you can do more harm than good.

I can't think of anyone or anything that could have provoked something like this, but I guess you never know. It was parked in a small private lot all the way back totally out of everyone's way, where I've parked for a while.

By Paintless Dent Removal, you're talking about one of the hot glue contraptions? Might work, but I've never used one before. (I already tried one of those suction cup things, not a chance.)

I'm really hoping that this could be easily pounded out from the inside if it's easy enough to remove the interior quarter panel.

Paintless Dent Removal is a business. Generally they service new and used car dealerships out of a truck that carries their specialized tools. They basically massage the dent out from the back side. The guy that services our dealership is pretty awesome. It's not something you do at home and trust me, it's a lot harder than it looks. If you want it done right, don't do it yourself.

I see. Interesting. I requested an online quote from a local repair business.

A co-worker had a black Avalon years ago that got beat up badly in a hail storm. He had it fixed via that method (PDR) and it looked like new when they were done. Amazing.

I got a quote that it would be $400 on the high side. Still much cheaper than traditional body work.
