Question 1998 4runner V6 3.4L Manual - Codes p0100, p0110 MAF / IAT. Starts then dies!

Hey folks - not sure if this is the appropriate place for this but I'm struggling to nail down the problem here - this problem just started 3-4 days ago.

Over the span of an afternoon, I noticed hesitancy in power delivery while driving in the city - and my check engine light popped on. After parking it for a while, and then going for a ten minute drive, this problem had escalated and revving was very rough and hesitant.

After coming to another stop and parking / shutting it off, vehicle will start but idles rough for a few seconds and then dies. Tapping the gas during this will either cause the RPMs to drop, or hesitate and then rev up, and drop again and die.

I've had this 4runner for 11 years - Sitting @ 439,000KM.
Past maintenance relevant to the problem:
Timing belt + water pump done @ 405,000km
Spark plugs done just a couple months ago around 427,000KM.
Fuel Filter changed yesterday - but it had not been changed for many years prior to this.
Fuel pump replaced 2015
Fuel injectors not touched.
Throttle body last cleaned probably 2-3 years ago.

p0110 p0100 codes are IAT sensor / MAF sensor.
I cleaned the MAF sensor without any change in running - same thing, idles rough and dies after a few seconds.

After I replaced the fuel filter yesterday, it did run relatively well for about 2-3 minutes before bogging down and dying.

I am happy to buy a new MAF sensor but these problems seem more complicated than that. I just want to get a little help before I drop 200 on a Denso MAF sensor.

This morning, I went to give it another try and it would not start at all. I gave the fuel tank a hearty whack with a baseball bat and it did start - but the same rough idling. I could get the engine revving a little bit but it still died after 10-15 seconds. This makes me feel like it is moreso a fuel delivery problem and not a MAF sensor issue but I'm a YouTube mechanic who's lacking a lot knowledge with these things.

Thanks all for your time.

Check all the maf wires first for short also check the grounds also. P0100 is a Maf circuit code. the others might be related.

The IAT sensor I think (but not sure on 3rd gens)is integrated with the MAF sensor, so even if the MAF sensor portion of the sensor is working the IAT portion can be defective, so replacing the sensor maybe your only option.

Maybe you can find a used one at a savage yard.
