Reboot or Replace CV Axles

(If this is not the right place for this please move it)

Hello All,

Just lifted my 2008 4Runner with 210k miles. As part of the lift I switched to Duralast front sway links. I just realized the lower stud is not long enough and the nut can't even fully thread on. Do not buy these! Unfortunately, I only realized this after the driver side backed off and the sway bar wasted my CV boot .

My question is: is it worth rebooting the CVs with 210k miles (they showed no signs of wear) or should I just eat the cost and buy a new (preferably OEM p/n 4343060082) set of axles. I heard that 5th gen CVs have a different part number but work on a 4th.

Thanks,

Tyler

I take that you've bad taste from aftermarket vital components and main reason for wanting OEM axles. You can't go wrong with Toyota parts. Even now prices are not terrible. Not as awful as Honda parts always have being $$$. I'd get OEM end links as well as OEM axles unless you plan to replace them often. I've remanufactured Quest Advance Auto brake calipers with life time warranty on my 4th gen and replaced them 3 times already in just 5 years. But at least it is 20 min and 2 bolt removal/assembly procedure. I would go OEM route even at 4x price vs aftermarket no matter what warranty on labor intensive parts.
