Prep for badge overlay

Hi all,
I recently bought the Toyota overlay badges for my 17 SR5. I also recently (w/in past 2 weeks) put a layer of ceramic coating on my car including badges (w/o overlays on). My question is , what kind of prep do I need to do to get any ceramic coating off the current badges in order for the 3m tape from the overlays to adhere properly? Side note, I’d rather just take off the SR5 badges on the side but I’m worried about significant “ghosting” with the car being five years old. Thoughts?

I didn’t have significant ghosting issues with my 2004 a couple years ago, so you should be ok.

I removed the Limited 4WD badges from the sides. (I replaced the oem Toyota and 4Runner tailgate badges with JDM Hilux Surf and Ssr-x badges.). The Hilux Surf doesn’t have badges on the sides, as far as I know.

Good to know. Thanks!

I’m in the same position as you are. Just ceramic coated the 4Runner without the overlays, and now I am putting overlays on. You’ll have to compound the emblems to remove the coating. Either my hand or with a DA. Good luck!
