Is running Mobil 1 Syn 75W-90 in Front Diff bad?????
I realized half way through filling that I had grabed the wrong fluid and didn't have enough of the correct weight to finish the job so i finished with the 75W-90.
Is it bad to run this in the front diff?
If bad, will it atleast last for a 700 mile road trip until i can change?
Thanks in advance!!!

i dont think its bad, depends on where you live.
it handles cooler temperatures better, i run valvoline though.
should be fine.

Thanks! I suspected it was close enough. I in Atlanta, so the heat is more of a concern that the cold. So unless someone gives me a good reason, i'll leave it in till the next change. It doesn't see much action since it's the wife's daily driver.
Does the gearing in the front diff constantly spin/turn during normal 2wd?
Would there be any reason for concern about excessive heat in the front diff if used 98% of the time in the city (2wd)?

is yours a v6 part time 4wd or a v8 all time?
though your CVs are turning in part time mode, the ADD has a sleeve in the diff that keeps the gears from turning until you engage 4wd and that sleeve moves over to engage the CVs and then your driveshaft and case have it in 4wd basically.
so inless its v8, nope not turning

V6 part time.
Excellent! Just another bit of comfort knowing things aren't spinning in there full time. I'll be sure and use the heavier weight oil in the rear diff since it see constant usage.
Thanks for the help, much easier and more friendly than the audiworld guys who have grown tired of questions from mear mortials with only a limited knowledge of hardcore mechanics.

I'd bet $5 that if you had your diffs dealer serviced 70% of dealers would pump the same 75w-90 in both diffs...
