Can we get someone with an 04 to volunteer to never service their transmission so we can see how far it will go
. The manual does say that if you tow, the transmission should be serviced at 60K miles but you should only use the "new" special "W" rated transmission fluid, or your transmission will be damaged. I would suggest that if you are going to have your transmission serviced you would do it at say 50K miles so if the dealer screws it up you still have 10K miles of warranty to cover your butt. I would never let anyone "flush" this transmission and then do a fluid exchange. Now if you are really rich you could do a fluid exchange but you would have to cleanout the exchange machine with the "W" fluid before you did the exchange, so I would think you would need a very knowledgable mechanic along with 20+ quarts of "W" fluid. This "W" fluid is real expensive and you can only get it from Toyota, there is no equal fluid on the market. I would think you would be looking at $250+ to do the exchange. The "W" stands for world class.
