Transmission Fluid "Change"--Why Bother?

I've just read through all the great posts and links on the tranny fluid change for the 4th generation 4Runners with the no dipstick 5 speed tranny. It sure looks like a PITA to do it correctly. In the service manual page that is a link in one post, it has a chart showing fluid that will be lost with certain procedures. See http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showth...&threadid=7686 . If you drain all fluid out of the pan you are going to need 1.3 liters of fluid to replace it. But, the entire tranny holds 5.3 liters, and pulling the drain plug will only get out what is in the pan. Am I missing something, or are people going through the complicated hassle of adding fluid correctly only getting 1/4 of it changed in any event?

sort of... Check this and read my last response. I think getting all 5.3L's is the only way to go and changing just 1.3L's is a waste unless you do it every 20k miles or so and that's too much hassle for me.
