Hello,
Ok i have all those issues except my lights stay on all the time now and i have a total loss of top end power, i mean a total loss of power. When i hammer down the gas it wont drop down and take off. It is a 2006 sport V8. I hope someone can help me with this. Dealership says its going to cost me $1800 just for parts, says there is some kind of service bulletin for this problem.

VSC TRAC and TRAC OFF, No CEL

I finally took my 2001 4Runner to the dealer to help diagnose the "VSC TRAC" and "TRAC OFF" indicating lights for $95. The dealer said it was giving a C1207 code - the Park/Neutral indication was not being received but they were not sure why. On the schematics, the Park indication that goes to the instrument cluster and also goes to the VSC module. The VSC module triggers the "VSC TRAC" and the "TRAC OFF" indications. I informed the shop that the "P" for Park indication bulb was not working and was probably burned out for a couple of months. I also informed them that this is about the same time period that these indicating lamps became active. So I had the "P" lamp replaced on the instrument cluster for another $50 (labor). The code C1207 was gone and the "VSC TRAC" and "TRAC OFF" indicating lights went out. I can not believe a burned out bulb in the instrument cluster for "P" (Park) caused the "VSC TRAC" and "TRAC OFF" to be disabled. I guess that is why they are called idiot lights because you have be a genius to figure out the problem.

VSC Lights on after replacing dashboard lights

My daughter has a 2002 4Runner SR5. I swapped out the halogen lights in the dashboard/instrument panel for led lights. Since then the VSC OFF and VSC TRAC lights turn on after the vehicle starts moving and stays on. I checked the gas cap, just in case, but this is not the issue. When taking apart the panels to get to the instrument panel, I did disconnect the plug that goes to the VSC button on the lower left next to the lights dimmer. Not sure if this has something to do with it or not. From all of the forums I have read, I think my problem is that this now needs to be reset and is truly not a mechanical issue that is causing this. I found a DIY option for 4th generation 4Runners with the 4th and 13th pins to perform zero calibration and was curious if anyone knows if this would also work for 3rd generation 4Runners. Also open to any other suggestions as to how to possibly clear this without having to pay to take it to the dealership or mechanic.

New owner here. I just purchased a 2001 Limited with 104k that had these lights as well as a noise right behind the steering wheel. Ended up being the ABS master cylinder booster? And an abs wheel speed sensor. It's all good now! Was more expensive than I thought it would be but so far I'm only into the truck for $5500 including tax, title and buffing the paint back to life. Hoping to learn some stuff from this site. I'm already eyeing a new radiator lol

catalytic converter

So my mechanic looked at the codes for my 07 SR5, told me it was o2 sensor, but it had caused the cat converter to become clogged. I haven't noticed a loss in performance, but my gas mileage isn't as efficient as it should be either. So he suggests a new cat con along with the sensor to be replaced. Now I know mechanics salivate over replacing cat cons whether they are needed or not, sooo is this $1200 repair really necessary, or do I need a new mechanic?

Go to Auto Zone or another auto parts store, have them read the codes if they haven't been deleted and get a second opinion. I'd try to find a good Toyota independent shop. Good luck.

When changing out for LED lights, I had also replaced the P, R, N, D, 2, L lights. When I changed the P light back to halogen, it fixed my problem!

check engine VSC off

First time followed owner manual and took to Toyota for service, ended up paying about $100 for a gas cap. 2nd time 40,000 miles later went to auto parts store and purchased a gas cap for $14.00, disconnected battery to delete codes, problem solved.

Question New

I am having a similar situation with my 2003 limited 4Runner except instead of the check engine light i have the Maintenance, and the ABS light on along with the VSC TRAC & TRAC OFF lights. I had filled my tires 2 weeks ago but today the tire pressure in one of my tires was about 7 pounds to low and the lights came on after i filled the tire to match the others. My friend said it could be the drastic change in weather this week with the tire but i'm not sure. I had my back rotors and all four brake pads changed over summer but the past week the brakes were squealing at certain points of pressure but has now stopped when the lights came on. I've had an appointment to take my truck in the have one of the door locks fixed next week but i'm not sure if i should take it tomorrow for a full inspection, my last inspection was 5 years ago. Im a 21 year old girl, i'm pretty good with how things work and have read my manual keeping up with maintenance myself but i'm kinda at a lose here.

I just had mine show CEL, VSC and VSC OFF with coder P0441, O0442 and P0446. All codes related to the Evap system.

Found the gas cap loose, tightened it, cleared the codes. No problem now. I'm glad I didn't waste time at the dealer.

Had this problem and resolved it.

Gas cap. I had already checked to make sure it was tightened but still had lights. On closer inspection, the rubber O ring had cracked. Replaced it with an OEM Toyota (~$20 on amazon) and all lights cleared.

Check your gas caps carefully.

Hey I am having the same problem. I have an 04 sr5 2wd with all three lights on. I just had the rear diff regeared with lower ratio and when I got it back those lights were on. They weren’t on before that.

I’ve tried disconnecting the battery for 15 min and they went off for a while but came back on. I tried taking the battery wires loose and touching them together for 30min to clear the ecm but the same result...

Have you found any other answers? It’s hard for me to accept that I all the sudden need to replace some part that wasn’t an issue before.
