Winter Tires and TPS

I have an 08 4runner sport that came with 17" 265/65/17 rubber, and I want to stick my 16" 245/75/16 winter tires on. I have a picked up a spare set of Tire Pressure Sensors so that I can just swap them on and off, but after looking through my Manuals, it looks like that is easier said than done. Anyway what I am trying to figure out is

#1 is there any way that I can reprogram the new TPSs that I have to the same codes as the TPSs that came with my truck? I would really like to avoid having to take the truck in to get the ECU reprogrammed for the different TPSs when I swap my summer to winter tires each spring/fall.

#2 being a VW owner I was able to find all sorts of emulation software to Access the OBD system and I was wondering if there is a similar system for Toyota. I see that there is some kind of code scanner called a tech stream and I was wondering if there is an emulator for it.

Answered #2 Scantools

Cheers

James

Just FYI I called my local dealer, Tony Graham Lexus Toyota in Ottawa and they want $90 ($180/year) to reprogram the ECU for the other set of TPSs each time. That is a lot of electrical tape.

First and most major concern I see is that you won't be able to fit the 16" rims over the larger brakes on a Sport. You better check your fit before you invest in anything.

Also, the only way to reprogram is to pay the stealer. I run winter wheels and use tape over the flashing dash bulb.
