UOA '04 4Runner 4.0L V6, Factory Fill, 542 Miles

Here's my first UOA on the new Runner. Factory fill and Toyota 90915-20004 filter. Started using Fuel Control at 62 miles and have used at every fill up.

Replaced with Castrol GTX 5w-30 and Toyota 90915-YZZD1 filter. Will change and sample again ~3,000 miles. Will start using Lube Control very soon. May switch to RP 21 after the next UOA.

Apparently the poster on the forum agrees you were wise to change the oil at 500 miles. I have heard the same. Mine will be changed this weekend. I'm going ahead with Mobil1.

No water at all in your oil. Moisture in the oil can cause it to go acidic breaking down the viscosity quickly. This is why I change the oil in my supra once every six months regardless of the mileage. Well, I only put about 2k miles a year on it, so I certainly don't wan't to wait a year and a half!

Thanks for the UOA!

Oh, and when you say "fuel control" do you mean the ability to change the AFR? Why would that be necessary?

Fuel Control is a product that improves engine efficiency. Take a look at http://www.lubecontrol.com/id15.html

Terry Dyson didn't recommend going to synthetics yet. He recommended going to 3000 and sampling again to see how wear metals are trending. Terry has done me right on the Z06, more than worth the money if you want some excellent consulting advice on UOA's.

Check out the thread below for details:

Here to order collection kits from Blackstone Labs. Make sure you specify 'Dyson/BK Analysis Kit' when ordering:
