HELP! What do you clean your interior panels with?

I goofed up and used Armor All leather wipes on my armrests and door panels on my brand new Sport Edition 4 Runner. I didnt ruin anything, but the leather wipes left streaky, discoloration.

Water and a rag will likely work to remedy my mistake, but after that, what can I use from now on to clean these surfaces? Are they vinyl? I guess I should have known for sure before detailing, but ...lesson learned.

Please help

Bleach Solution

When I did detail we used warm diluted bleach solution. I know what youre thinking BLEACH are you crazy?!?!?!?! No, it works quite well, it takes out most stains, some how attrachs dirt to the rag, and is good for disinfecting the surface as you clean. The solution we used was 5 capfuls of bleach to 3 GALLONS of water. This solution wasnt ever strong enough to bleach things, just strong enough to clean. For make up stains, often found on the steering wheel and door handles, can be removed with a diluted degreaser. Hope this helps, it always worked well for me during my detail days. Also be careful at how wet you get the vinyl, the wetter it gets the easier it is to tear.

are they vinyl?

The door panels and dashboard on the '08 Sport Editions is vinyl correct? Can any other SE owners out there confirm this before I attempt the diluted bleach solution?

I also need to add that the bleach solution works well on all interior surfaces of the vehicle, leather, vinyl, carpet, plastic, you name it. You didnt say what year your T4R is, but if you bought it used then some of the paneling and carpet may have been dyed by the stealership. The problem with dying is that the bleach solution will remove it. If it is a newer model you should be fine. Just a thought.

Trey,

303 makes a few different products....what exactly do you use with effectiveness on the door panels and dash?

To actually clean the dirt off I use a 3:1 mix of water/Simple Green and then use Meguire's Quick Interior Detailer which leaves it nice and clean looking without a rediculous shine and it doesn't seem to have a buildup unlike other stuff.

Wow, Simple Green is great stuff, but 3:1 is still pretty strong. Have you tried a lower concentration? The label says you can go to 10:1 for heavy cleaning. Also, it says that the product should not be used on instrument panels, so you'll want to be careful with it.

hands down the best cleaner on the market is automagic 713. its always best to CLEAN your components berfore using any dressing on them. Most of the products mentioned above are one step products that are suposed to do it all. thats just NOT the case. after cleaning with 713 try stoner brand interior dressing. mist it on lightly then brush it with a paint brush, burnish to desired luster with a microfiber.

Some products like armor all almost attract dust. Do any of these cleaners bring back the new factory look while not creating some kind of dust/dirt attracting layer?
