Need NEW FRONT AXLES

Hey all,

Where is the best place to buy replacement front axles? Mine are leaking everywhere and the shop says you might as well buy new ones then try to "reboot them" because it is not much more to just replace them.

Is there any good priced web sites that offer OE axles?

Thanks!!!

Really??!! Is this due to your lift?? I would think just rebooting them is cheaper. Anyways, with a new axle, wouldn't you still have the SAME problem because you are planning on keeping your 3/2 lift, right?

Is this a legit shop?

You have to remove the axle to install new boots anyways so I think it is actually easier to replace the entire cv. Inner and outer boots were around $50.00 and a new axle with lifetime guarantee at O'reilly is $90.00. I would agree with your mechanic.

X2, Ive replaced a boot on my 99, Ive replaced a CV on the 99, Id much rather just replace the whole thing. Like racedirt1 said, go to Oreilly or NAPA and get the lifetime replacements.

Ahhh...good to know. Here is my question...his lift is probably the problem, right? So, this axle replacement will be a frequent occurrence??

And if you have an impact gun you can replace the axle yourself in less than an hour.

Trdsupranick, You should drop your front diff in order to avoid this in the future. A lot of people overlook this step when adding a lift but I think it is cheap insurance to avoid axle issues and leaky CV boots when running a lift.

I have an 04 4Runner, no lift, only 65xxx miles. Both outer boots are puking grease all over... Dealer told me it was a very common issue. They are going to try to re pack the boots, using a zip-tie to seal. If it does not hold, will have to do the replacement as well.
