Differential service and Mechanic that should have bad things happen to them
So I picked up a t4r about a month ago that was dealer maintained and everything was perfect on it. All the fluids changed regulary by the dealer, looking at the records I was shocked that the service department didn't fill up the gas every time for this guy. Well today I was changing the oil and wanted to go ahead and do the diffs as well. Should have been a quick and easy process. Well whomever last serviced the front diff decided to make the 10mm hex nice and smooth so it looks pretty. I aborted, didn't have time to to devote to taking it out, will do it this weekend. What pisses me off is I know the dealer did this. I used to work for an Independent Mercedes repair shop and I would have been embarrassed to leave a vehicle in this fashion. stripping bolts and rounding heads happens, we all are human, but you fix it right there. Even if I had no integrity I would be afraid that one of the other mechanics I work with would throw a wrench at me if they got that car for the next service. I am going to send a note to Earl Stewart Toyota in West Palm Beach, not because I think they care or will do anything about it but it makes me feel better. This is something simple that is easy to fix and the part to replace was on the shelf in the parts department. What if he had screwed up something more important that they didn't have the part for?
