Adjusting the parking brake - 04 4R

I searched but came up emtpy.

Where is the adjustment for the parking braking on an 04 4Runner? I was under the truck last night looking, but didn't see anything. I did notice that the cables both exit the body in the vicinity of the center console/shifter.

Is the adjustment inside, under the console?

Thanks!

Mike

Yep, it seems that way. Apparently you can also adjust the shoes though holes in the drum. Looks like way too much PT for me. I'll just get the dealer to do it next service, they might change my mind if they want to charge for it.

The parking brake is the Achilles heel of the new Runner.

I have had it adjusted three times by the dealer and it still slides downhill when I have the EB activated.

The dealer tried to charge me twice for the 'adjustment'.

I wish we had the old T-handle EB and drum's on the rear. I don't like the discs on the rear of a truck. They squeek.

I'm okay with the rear discs, but I think the push on-off parking brake pedal is dumb idea.

They have to try to make the brake tight enough to hold the vehicle, yet loose enough so that you can press the pedal all the way to the floor to release it. They need an auto release when you shift into gear.

Wow, t-handle brake, I haven't had one of those since my '85 and '92 Nissan pickups. Those were great. My wife hated it because she wasn't strong enough to release it after I'd put it on.

Thanks for the info. I'll try to see if I can figure the brake out when I install my AUX-BOX on my radio. I'm not quite ready to take the 4R back to the dealer yet.

Thanks,
Mike

Honda CR-V EB

Check out the EB on the new Honda CR-V, really cool and works like a charm.
