Quite randomly, my 2009 4Runner won't respond immediately when I press the gas pedal. I'm assuming this is the hesitation you described. I have no plans to replace my truck (which has over 130K well-loved miles on it), but hate the idea of rip-off service. The local dealership quoted $154.00. Should I shop it around?

I've 230k original miles on my injectors and I keep getting a random 01,02,03,05 misfire CEL that only happens at idle and doesn't come back for hours or days later. It never flashes just throws the code at idle occasionally.
I've done the fuel injector service but if the issue is that my injectors are worn out then that's a bummer since they are way expensive.
Excuse me for bringing this one back from the dead.

Hey @BrianSD_42 , I seem to be experiencing the exact same issue - did you ever find out what the culprit was?

In my case the engine was compression tested and it failed a leak down test. I ended up getting a new engine.

That said lots of people here have random misfires that eventually get solved. Very few every involve getting a new engine .

Well that's scary... hopefully mine does not suffer the same fate. It's going in to a reputable shop next week so I'll post up any findings shortly thereafter. Thanks for responding dude.

I use Amsoil P.I. every oil change, maybe it's not necessary but I don't care. It works for me and I consider the $10-11 it costs as part of the oil change price.

Well, a compression test showed 160psi across all cylinders except for cyl #1 which was at 180. Not too bad for a truck with 320k km's (or 200k miles). Some new injectors and she's running smooth as glass.

Anyone considered the Motorwest Denso Upgrade kit?

I just run some seafoam through the vacuum line just past the throttle body and it seams to do the trick!

Always love a product that has instructions stating once you're done to basically "get on the freeway and HIT THE GAS PEDAL" lol...it practically tells you to hit the freeway/interstate hard and then you're done :P

my neighbor wasn't a fan of the smoke cloud in my driveway when I was running the idle at like 3k or whatever it recommends though ha ha
