How often do you rotate your tires?

I watch them and rotate them as needed.

Rear-wheel drive, so the tires on the rear-end wear down faster.

I usually rotate front to back around every six months or so.

But last time I noticed that both my passenger side tires were worn down a little more than the driver side tires, so I switched the front driver side tire with the rear passenger side tire (only rotated these two tires) so that the two tires with the most tread are both back with the drive axle and the two tires with the lowest tread are both back on the front axle.

Threw on a set of Nitto Grapplers, never rotated them and got just under 8 years out of them. Score!

Rotate every 8-9K usually. I know most do it at 5K, but I honestly never had issues with my tactic either.

This topic has so many answers because of different driving styles. Someone who does 95% highway has a way different wear situation than someone in the city/suburbs with lots of stop start off ramps etc.

I usually go by the outside edge of the front tires. They get feathered edges - one side of the tread block higher than the other - which you can feel by running your hand in both directions.

Over the years and different locations where I've lived (and different vehicle weights) my rotation has varied from about 4,000 miles all the way up to 12,000.

Looking at my tires now with about 8,500 miles on the oil, I will probably just rotate when I do my oil change in a couple of months.

I rotate every time I swap in/out the winter tire and wheel set with the summer tire and wheel set and work hard to wear each of them out every 4-5 years. I remember where a tire came from by sticking a piece of duct tape in the center cap with the labels "from DF" "from DR" "from PF" "from PR" and "from SP" then when these tires come out of storage, I do my swap and replace the center cap into the correct location.

In general, you *can* take a winter directional rotation tire like the Blizzak and run it opposite the indicated direction. Doing so will only make it wear a slight bit more rapidly, so remember that in a pinch if you have to.

Running something like a summer ultra high performance directional tire the opposite way will suffer significantly more from a performance perspective.

The easiest way to determine which tires will or won't suffer too much from running in the opposite direction is to take a look at the tread, if it's asymmetric (look at both left-right and front-back symmetry), performance will suffer more than a symmetric tread will.

YMMV, that's why I stated "in general".
