Pulley or Fan Squeal
This weekend after an oil change, I noticed a squealing noise coming from under the hood of my 03 4R. At first I thought it was due to a wet belt, since fluids were added. The sound is not as noticible at idle, but gets progressively louder under accelleration and seems to be coming from the fan area. I'm taking in it to the dealership tomorrow to have them check/adjust the belt tension, etc. Has anyone else experienced this yet?

I notice you have the V6. It may be the serpentine belt. There is a TSB going back to spring '03 on this problem. The dealer should have info on this. If it is the belt, the TSB calls for replacement of the tension adjusting pulley and mounting assy.
Good luck, I have had mine back 5 times for this, and I just noticed last week when the weather warmed up a bit that the noise is back again.

First I've heard of this TSB. Do you have a # or a copy or a link?

I can't find my copy of it at the moment, also can't locate link to printed version. But, number listed on all service work orders is TSB EG012-03. It lists the squeak problem, and lists all the replacement parts needed to make the repair.

Well at least I know I wasn't imagining things! Thanks guys... The 4R went into the dealership this morning and I'll follow up with them regarding the TSB number to ensure they look into it.
UPDATE: As of 5PM they are still working on performing this TSB and they'll need to keep the car overnight. I'm coming down with something so I won't be needing the car anyhow. Apparently it's a real pain to replace that tension adjusting pulling and the belt. Thanks for bringing up the TSB, otherwise they may have been clueless.
Alldata.com just listed the basic info unless I wanted to pay:
TSB EG012-03 JUL 03 Engine - Drive Belt Squealing/Chirping Noise
and NHTSA had a blurb on it when I did a search, but no real details, again unless I forked over some $$$:
Technical Service Bulletins - Search Results
SEARCH TYPE : VEHICLE
YEAR : 2003
Make : TOYOTA
Model : 4 RUNNER
Type : PASSENGER CAR
Make : TOYOTA Model : 4 RUNNER Year : 2003
