1999 4Runner making noises

My 4Runner has started making some kind of noise from behind the dash. Sounds like a bearing in a fan going bad but the noise speeds up when I speed up and slows down when I slow down but does not do it at a complete stop. And it's not a constant sound just every now and then. Any ideas or suggestio
