My short list: T4R limited, XC90, Outback.

Coming from an 08 Cayenne S (which is a body-on-frame) SUV, I have to definitely throw a recommendation in there for it. My 08 with 72K+ miles on it rode like a unibody, towed like a workhorse, and went off road with ease. I had an extended warranty on it, but never had a problem with it...

    Just bought a Limited 2012 4 runner!

Congrats and welcome! I'm in the "less chrome is better" category too. In fact, I avoided chrome and went with polished silver when I upgraded the factory wheels to a wider spec. Chrome grill would be way too much IMO, but all the power to you.

I just realized what Toyota is Doing!

No one said that. People like to discuss things on a auto discussion board...including things they don't like. heh. You're logic is...if it's the best, then don't complain about it. I really like your enthusiasm, but seriously...the 4R is not perfect. ^^^^^ :snacker:

I just realized what Toyota is Doing!

Oh, but don't forget the noisy brake pedal!! ;) I agree for the most part of what you're saying in comparison to other vehicles in the same price range....but I was expecting a bit more out of my Limited with ride comfort and interior noise. There are some other small tidbits that are worth...

I just realized what Toyota is Doing!

heh. Never ceases to amaze me here when forum regulars try to shut down or shut out legitimate complaints or opinions here. The 4Runner is good, but it's far from great IMO. Like JohnnyT said, there are some here that have lowered their expectations to fit or meet what the 4Runner does...

Hey thanks, I think I recall seeing your 4R at the Chandler Blvd/Ray Rd stop sign the other day.

    tire warranty or not?

Depends on what type of roads/how rough you're going to be on those tires. I passed on the tire warranty for mine because: A. Michelin (tires I bought) has a warranty already B. Insurance is sold at a profit C. I can afford to replace the tire if it does need to be replaced.

Got my new shoes today. Wanted something a bit different this time than black or chrome, so went with the silver w/ machine cut lip. Love the ride quality/performance on the 275/55R20 Michelin MS/2s.

    2012 4Runner Spongy Brakes

Normal for 4Runner, abnormal for 99% of any other vehicle on the road. There are other large body-on-frame vehicles that can stop just as well as the 4R and have acceptable levels of brake pad wear...all without the noise.

    2012 4Runner Spongy Brakes

I hate when people on here describe the brake noise as normal. It's anything but normal. Definitely not acceptable. Anyway OP, check out this thread:http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/102364-brake-pedal-noise-3.html

Lost my 5th gen to another buyer at the dealership

Edited: $37K for a 2012 Limited?? They have to be giving you less for your trade. I haven't seen anyone get anywhere near that price on here, nor edmunds. Wow. Dealers here in Arizona aren't budging much lower than that price on 2010 Limited's with 20K+ miles.

$256.46 is a great price, especially when you consider the labor involved.
