I have a 2008 Sport non JBL and I upgraded the deck last fall to a Pioneer AVHP4300 DVD. I passed on the blue tooth option. The newer units now have it. I love this deck, what sold me were many great reports here on Pioneer decks but more important it had selectable illumination, and rear USB...
I can't comment on the integration with the JBL amp etc, but I can say from my experience with my 2008, Non JBL, I replaced the factory deck with a Pioneer DVD4300 and with steering control integration and stock speakers. This deck made the factory speakers come alive. Typically the 2 weak...
I recently had the same deck installed in my 2008 Non JBL and believe me, it makes the stock speakers sound much better. Try that first, you may be surprised.
I also had a PAW SW1 installed and it works well, the mode button now controls my source selections and there are some variations vs...
I just added a Pioneer DVD 4300 in my 2008 (stock, no JBL) using the stock speakers. I also added head rest monitors. I can tell you the orange illumination was important to me and looks great in the dash. The sound quality of the stock speakers is dramatically improved. I also used the PAC...
Update: sending rear audio & video to the back seat is done by selecting the Rear/DVD option. This allows the driver & passenger to listen to other sources. Selecting this allow kids to use the headrest monitor speakers for sound or wired/wireless head phones.
All is now well that the...
I know a number of members are using Pioneer DVD decks and head rest monitors. I just installed mine tonight (4300DVD & Concept CLS-700 head rest monitors). I have the video bypass installed too. Is it possible to sent audio & video (from DVD) to the headrest monitors and have the driver &...
Good reading, thanks for posting. I like seeing the various sub ideas for those not re-using the stock JBL enclosure. Cargo space is important to me. I like the JL Stealth box idea but not the price.
For those with amps under the seats, what have you done in regards to the HVAC vents under there?
I also purchased the 4300DVD unit for my 2008 based on all the positive reviews, features and value. I have yet to get it installed so I can't comment on how it looks in dash.
For speakers, 6x9's and 6.5" components fit in the front, 6.5" in the rear doors.
I use Michelin Xice 2's on my 4 Runner and love them. In the past I have used just A/T tires but I like the winter rubber compound and increased traction on ice with my Michelins.
