    The heartbreak of just-noticed rust!!

Our 2009 4Runner has been insanely reliable and I've kept the bottom oil-undercoated for years and it looks to be in perfect shape. However, today I noticed rust coming up through the top of the driver's-side door sill. What's the best way to fix this? The car looks to be in mint condition...

Sloppy Steering and Vibration at 60+

Having owned three 4-gen runners and seen this issue to some degree on each one, I would say that having the vehicle aligned and your wheels meticulously balanced goes a long way toward solving it. An alignment is very simple, because with a fixed rear axle there's nothing to do except up...

Front end clunk - what to check?

FWIW, I had a front end clunk. Replaced sway bar bushings with urethane ones that I found in a very low durometer. Problem completely went away and the overall dynamics of the car are very good now.

What did you do with your 4runner today?

Why? In what way should it be edited or removed? It's a fact, it's something recent involving my T4R, and I just thought it was funny. Are you a professional offense-taker? If so, why are you driving a 4Runner? ... you might be happier in a magenta VW Bug and enrolling in prancersize classes.

What did you do with your 4runner today?

I have been having a very funny experience with my '09 4Runner over the last couple/few weeks. I started dating a very petite Asian girl who weighs a hair under 85 lbs. Well, apparently the air bag sensor in the passenger seat in my '09 4Runner Limited is set at exactly, precisely 85.0 lbs...

    Fuel gauge problems

We have a problem with the fuel gauge in our V8. It appears to be miswired to the accelerator, such that if you push hard on the pedal, the gauge needle winds counterclockwise rapidly. Very. Those doggone folks on the Yoda assembly line obviously weren't paying attention when they built the...

    '09 sunroof rattling/squeaking/noisy

I got it from a Toyota parts specialist in Dubai. Can't remember the name but I'll look. There are tons of parts dealers there. Yoda 4WD components are dirt cheap in the Middle East. They DHL'd it and I had it in about 10 days. You just have to be 100 percent sure you have the right part #...

    '09 sunroof rattling/squeaking/noisy

Hey guys I thought I would record here how this was finally licked. The stupid Yoda dealer near here followed up with me after their diag and offered to replace the entire sunroof. Cost for that work was $6,170!!!!! I told them to go pound. I then Googled a nearby place that installs...

    '09 sunroof rattling/squeaking/noisy

2009 V6 4wd Limited: Recently the glass sunroof panel started moving around, squeaking, and making a huge amount of noise ratting around in the airflow at highway speed. It’s quite loose on the left hand side in particular – moves up and down quite a bit, and on the LHS the panel sits ~1/4"...

Rear window nozzle came loose; how to reattach?

Nope ... that won't work. The nozzle isn't out on the spoiler; rather, it's attached near the top of the tailgate kinda underneath the spoiler. Can't see how in tarnation to get in there!

Rear window nozzle came loose; how to reattach?

Hi, on our 2009 Limited, yesterday I hit the rear window spritzing button on the stalk, but noticed that neither of the two streams were not hitting the window. Walked around to the back of the car, looked up under the spoiler, and I see that that nozzle unit has come loose. Would anyone know...

Spare tire carrier removal. Dealer keeping car overnight.

It's a gigantic pain in the rear but it's not particularly difficult, just unpleasant. Our 2009's hoist cable had totally frozen into place -- I assume due to corrosion. I ordered the "new" replacement part which, like 5th gen 4Runners, has a chain rather than a cable, and the six bolts that...

9 Easy Steps to Lighting Your 4th Gen's Door-Mounted Switches

Not clear on what the need for this is. The driver's window switch is already illuminated at night. Isn't that all you really need?

Tricks to up your fuel mileage. (V8)

We also have a very early (in our case, 2003) V8, as well as a 2009 V6. There's no way you can rely on that fuel mileage computer, it's hopelessly optimistic! Our V8 gets 10-12 around town, and 15-17 on the highway. The lower end of that is in the winter, when gas is blended. (These are...
