I have a trail and live in mid Michigan. I rarely have to run in 4 wheel. The last big storm I did but that made a 34 mile drive take 2 hours. Even with ice and good tire I am fine in 2 wheel when most ppl are having issues.
I plan to run the Dunflops in the warmer weather and switch out again next winter. Not worth selling and why wear the bfgs. When the Dunflops die I will invest in a good dry/highway tire. I did notice a loss of about 70 miles a tank on the bfgs.
The loose steering feel was gone once I replaced my factory dunlops with BFG AT's. The explorer WILL be worth alot less in 10 yrs then the 4Runner. Just look at ebay auto. Look up 2005 4Runner and 2005 Explorer.
