I agree! My family has to listen to me fuss about this often when in parking lots. I have thought about sending an email to Government Motors but assume it would do no good.

I ended up getting the AFE after I sent back the "new style" TRD. The AFE is a good unit and is the same as the "old style" TRD except that it has an extra port on the front of it. I keep the extra port plugged with the plug AFE includes with the intake. Gadget on the xrunner forum is the MAN.

The same thing has happened to my wife's 2007 Sienna. I too think it is the heat. This has not happened to my 4runner but it is garaged during the day where as the Sienna is always outside.

The unit has a cable/plug that connects to the rear of the head unit. The headunit sees the device as an aux cd changer. I had a pa12 and recently went with the pa15 when i got an Iphone. It works really well on my sport edition 2005 stock radio(single cd). Check out the usaspec web sight...

I believe that is correct. Seems that I had seen a thread about this sometime in the past and that was the general consensus.

The muffler portion is roughly 20x8x8. The label shows 44 lbs. At idle it does have a little purr, more so when the a/c is on and the rpm's are up slightly.

It wasn't really what I was looking for. Additionally, it had too much drone for me from 40-50 mph, which is the speed I spend most of my time driving. I thought it was fine at freeway speeds 55-70 mph. I bought it from trdparts4u for $420 ++. Let me know....

The part number is the same.... it just has -tp added to the end.. PTR31-89060-TP
