    Transfer switch indicator part numbers

Just make sure you follow any of his directions/instructions precisely. Exactly. If you don't, you'll regret it! :flamethrwoer2: The cat, I mean, naturally. Have fun! Pat☺

Mystery bolt? The biggest one on our 4 runners.

It looks like the bolt the alternator rotates on? The one on the bottom. It usually has a washer between the nut and the alternator mount. Usually on the back. Just my opinion, though... Pat☺

    Fan Clutch Question

IIRC, there is a shaft on the rear of the clutch, with a bearing, that connects it to the mount. So if it quieted down, I'd say that bearing is going bad. Definately replace the clutch now before it seizes up. Does that answer your question? Pat☺

    brake bleed

Whenever you bleed the brakes, you really need to do it in order. Passenger rear, driver rear, passenger front, driver front, LSPV (if present). That way, it will not draw dirty fluid into the rest of the system, but WILL discharge the dirty fluid and air out of the system. always bench bleed...

    MOOG parts (with grease fittings)...

I can't get under my truck any more. Lost a leg, and can't get up off the ground any more. Getting down is easy, gravity WILL prevail! Anywho, I recently too my truck in to my mechanic for an oil change, and asked him if he could grease the drive shafts while he was down there. OK, ok, they have...

2001 Toyota 4runner 4x4 Flashing Lights - Front Driveshaft Always Engaged Normal?

Living in a subdivision that has all dirt/gravel roads is really handy for that. I drive a few miles in 4WD once a month like clockwork. A little 4LO, a little 4HI, shifting through the gears in both, keeps the truck happy. Come winter, if I encounter snow/ice the truck shifts happily in/out...

    Most durable or reliable generation?

My 99 4Runner, with a 5VZFE is a V6, and it has a belt, not a chain. Or am I a generation off from your comment? Anywho just wanted to throw in my bit... Pat☺

What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

If it were me, first thing I would figure out where the spark is coming from. A spark has a voltage source somewhere that's jumping a gap that it shouldn't. The insulation on a wire is stripped back, a bare wire is too close to a ground point, whatever. Once you find and fix that problem, you'll...

    Tire advice

I'm with you on the Toyos. The set I have on are great on dry, wet, snowy, icy etc pavement. Next set will be the same, or the next generation, if they're out by then. Have fun all! Pat☺

Where to get a power steering hose that is as overbuilt as the original

I got lucky, when I needed new hoses on my 4Runner, and pickup. I was loaning my pickup to my daughter while she was stationed over at Camp Pendleton. The pressure hose on it, and my 4Runner both, were leaking, and dripping down onto the alternator. Needless to say, I was going through many...

    Winch Fused Circuit Breaker Option?

I don't understand. The relay won't be energized unless the starter is actually running. Spinning the engine. We're talking a few seconds at a time during the starting of the engine. After that, there's no current flowing through the coil, no heat generated. Same with a winch relay. It'll...

    Maintenance question

Something else: Check the plugs on a regular basis. They can tell you important information about how well the fuel/air mixture is being maintained, and if there's any problems with it. They also wear down over time, and NEED replacement. ONLY use the recommended replacement plugs, not some...

What are Your Mantras to Get You Through Anxiety, Panic, Stress or Despair?

Ummmm....yeah. I think you have the whole thing bassackwards, but hey, what the heck, maybe you're onto something. Who am I to judge? Pat☺

Soft brake pedal 3rd gen t4r

When you doing the bleeding, did you do the rear brakes? You don't mention the rear set of brakes at all. Did you bleed the LSPV last of all? They're known for collecting dirt/crud, and air. Just checking. After all, the rear brakes are bled first, and the LSPV last. Any of them can have air...

Where in the "Diagnostics" section of the FSM is front window control?

Two possibilities here, honestly. One: bring a battery in good shape, one that's charged up to 12.XX VDC, and sit it in the seat beside you. Hook two wires to it, very long ones, of different colors, and use them to apply the required voltage to the item being tested. Just be certain the car's...
