I have no experience on that project, but I did have to replace a door-mounted side view mirror on a buick once. practicing on one at a junkyard was invaluable. i might have practiced on two of them!

There is a sticky in 4th gen or general. Very common problem. If you dont have a chain on your spare you are at great risk. Still at risk with a chain or cable, just a little less. You might notice other SUV's with something swinging under the rear. Thats their tire-less cable.
