    Pre/Post 1/99 head gasket differences

Checked at the dealer and only the newer headgaskets (from 1/99 onward) had an update in part number. The older ones didn't change from the original. They unfortunately didn't have any on hand and neither does any other dealer close to here to compare. How certain would you say you are that...

    Pre/Post 1/99 head gasket differences

If that were the case, I'd imagine that the newer gasket (and part number) would replace the older one (as you can see with other parts), but it's not showing as a replacement in this case.

    Pre/Post 1/99 head gasket differences

I'm attempting to order a R side passenger head gasket for a 3.4L. My problem is that there are two different part numbers depending on if the motor was from a vehicle before or after 1/99. The last 7 digits stamped on the block do not match the T4R that it was pulled from, so I'm not sure that...

Delayed shifting when cold, yes I know its normal but.....

Ok, I didn't know if you got conflicting results with this test or not, as I do not want to spend the coin on replacing solenoids when the manual shift test points towards those and it still doesn't fix the issue.

Did you ever perform the manual shift test?

    Front wheel bearing

20 ton press, & a 4x4 ball joint adapter set (from harbor freight I believe...I think this was especially useful if you've done the manual hub conversion), using old bearing to press in new ones to keep force distributed on the race. Have you considered globbing on marine grease across the ends...

Did you ever disconnect the solenoid wire and do the manual shift test on your old transmission?

A/F ratio, takes 30+ min to get to 14.7

Did you replace the front O2 sensor or only the rear. It's my understanding that the front sensor is the one that controls the fuel trim

Hood latch differences. Fitting a sport hood on a Limited

It's difficult to get a picture that shows the displacement. It's not just the loop/anchor, it's the surrounding structure that appears to be bulging out gradually, akin to a short but wide mound/hill. Every picture I take looks just about identical to a straight hood. It's more noticeable...

Hood latch differences. Fitting a sport hood on a Limited

The latch is not closed prior to dropping the hood. It seats all the way down to the bottom of the groove. I spent some time in a salvage yard comparing and found minute differences in pre and post '99 latches. I think the hood loop/anchor was pulled down in an accident. It's the only...

Hood latch differences. Fitting a sport hood on a Limited

At the very least, it appears that there's an electrical contact switch built into the latch.

Hood latch differences. Fitting a sport hood on a Limited

Just for reference, does anybody else have a latch that looks any different dimensionally than this one? This picture was taken directly in front of it with the grille removed.

Hood latch differences. Fitting a sport hood on a Limited

Thanks for the tips. However, there's at least an inch gap between the hood and the cushions with the hood locked into place. I'm failing to see how loosening the bolts to the lock afford any vertical gains or losses; the bolt holes are not slotted.
