i think it has something to do with fuel efficiency. it does not create suction in the back. have you seen the semi truck in the back of the trailer with some flaps or something? same thing i guess.

i replaced my cabin filter a few weeks ago and noticed some nest there. i think it's a squirrel since i found some pine nuts there. the filter did not have any hole so pretty much i'm good. looks like a cozy place to raise their young. :) i think the reason those squirrel make a nest there...

i agree, the new alternator is bad if the battery light do not turn off.

don't waste your money. every 10000 miles is fine. i just changed my oil last weekend after 10000 miles, the oil is black but not very thick. i checked the wix filter and it is still in good shape. i can still see the filter's original color. in addition to that, my old 4runner's oil was...

not really a pain to remove. i just changed my oil last saturday. i think it just takes more time though but not a pain. in addition, i get to see and be amazed while i lie there. :)

when it comes to oil filter, it's actually best if it's oriented that way. the filter is full of oil all the time everytime you start it unlike the 4th gen, the oil from the filter drains back when turned off. the new filter for the 5th gen is great for starting. you get an oil flow right away...

a turbo charged engine and driving it in a deep water crossing, i don't think so. you do know a turbo gets really really hot.

good to know. i would think it's the fan clutch. that's what controls the flow of air there when the engine is hot and especially when the car is parked idling. thanks for the update though but who knows until you swap the fan clutch quickly to find out. :)
