It sounds likely they replaced your coils with those of the 4Runner TRD kit, not the FJ TRD kit. I believe the FJ kit uses 14” springs and the 4Runner kit uses 13” springs, which explains the loss of static height.
The FJ coils are part number PTR13-35140-AA.
The delivered lift will depend on the spring rate of the dobinsons spring. If the dobinsons spring is also a 600lb/in spring, then it will deliver about 1" over stock, about the same as the TRD FJ spring (or slightly less as it is 1/8" shorter than the supplied TRD spring). If it is the same...
I'm a bit suspicious the FJ kit and the 4runner Pro kits may have different perch locations too based on the fact that the 4runner kit has both a lower spring rate and a shorter spring, yet both achieve 1" front lift over stock. I measured exactly 8.0" between the center of the lower shock bolt...
I have the Toytec top plate spacers installed with mine, which combined with the TRD spring give a measured 2" lift over stock in the front. My hub center to fender measurements are the same front to rear with stock rear springs. I have a set of the 1" Eibach rear springs on order to add a...
Follow the thread on the kits. Toyota is having to release the kits on an individual basis. Some dealers are taking several weeks and/or requiring a TTUE FJ VIN to release the kits. Consider that many dealers are asking the list price of $573+tax and this is a perfectly reasonable price for...
I received and installed mine yesterday. Rides very nice! Outstanding kit for the money. It raised the front exactly an inch per my before/after measurements. The ride is slightly firmer than stock yet somehow smoother. Super pleased.
As a side note, I have a second kit on hand that is for...
I have a new TRD suspension kit PTR13-35140 for sale, $600+ shipping (~$50-60 by my UPS estimates) or pick up from West Chester, OH. I can ship out ASAP (avoid the dealer backlog!).
No TT FJ VIN needed, no dealer waiting or uncertainty!
Why am I selling? After waiting 3 weeks for the kit I...
I have a new TRD suspension kit PTR13-35140 being delivered to me tomorrow that I would like to sell.
$600+ shipping (~$50-60 by my UPS estimates) or pick up from West Chester, OH. I can ship out ASAP (avoid the dealer delays!).
A manufacturing engineer's speculation: the tube the OP perceives as a "restrictor" does two things:
1. Smooths the airflow coming into the airbox (as has already been mentioned)
2. Allows Toyota to use the same bottom filter box molding in the 4runner as the 10+ FJ cruiser which is identical...
