The LR3 crushes the 4runner off-road, but is clearly less dependable. As far as breaking down on the trail, the LR3 isn't and won't be the last car to do so. You just have to be prepared. Classic 4runners that are made in to trail rigs don't quite have the dependapility of the new ones either.
