You're lucky, my part didn't go on all the way. I think part of the rod got hacked when trying to take the sensor off. It's on, but the rod only sticks out about 1mm and the back of the sensor does not touch the bolt mount hole. I tried sanding, but I might try putting some lithium grease on...
Yes, neutral safety switch. The receipt says range sensor, so I guess both terms are used. It was a real pain to get it off. What kind of gear puller did you use?
Toycan - Do you recall a black rubber washer between the range sensor and the transmission casing? I think the black washer slipped out the old range sensor when I pulled it off, but I could be wrong.
