    case of the rodent

Had one build a nest on top of the cabin air filter...so gross. Check there first (behind the glovebox, accessed from inside it). To ensure it didn't happen again, I put some chicken wire over the top of the opening in the engine bay, and epoxy'd it down on all sides. Problem solved! Be sure to...

    another dealer victim

I'm coming to the conclusion that, as others stated, these dealer techs are useless. Just yesterday I had one tell me that a weird thing my engine has been doing at 5200 RPM recently was, in fact, the rev limiter....the red line is at 5800 RPM. (FACEPALM). Another once told me that all cars are...

    2019 4Runner not that slow

It's funny, I thought the same thing. I actually think that people believe this because of how heavy and low the pedal is. If the throttle was much more responsive at the top of the pedal and more "jumpy", you'd be more inclined to think it's peppy. Because we have to stomp on it to get it...

What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

This week: Shampoo'd the carpets after a terrible coffee spill with a Home Depot hand held carpet cleaner, (HIGHLY recommend)! Also, if you ever have a smell that you can't get rid of, use pet cleaner with enzymes; it's the only thing that ever worked for me. Pro tip!

    2010 Limited with 150,000 miles

Enjoy! My 2010 was phenomenal and never needed a thing. I got rid of it at just under 150K for a newer model, but trust me, that thing has another 50-100K in it no problem. Sounds like you've checked all service records and that's huge. On top of that, just be really really vigilant with your...

How are your factory heated seats?

My 2010 got pretty warm, my 2016 is not AS hot though. I remember thinking the same on another 2016 or 17 that I test drove before purchasing this one, so I know it's not just mine. Still gets the job done, just not as hot as I remember in the "older" one!

    "High Mileage" 5th Gen

Purchased my 2010 with 41K and sold it at 145; zero problems. Just purchased a 2016 with ~35K and looking forward to many more years! I echo the notion to sign up on the Toyota website to check what services the car has had done at the dealership; easy way to do some self research. Enjoy!

    Oil change frequency

Since I'm on synthetic, I do the ole' 10K, but almost always end up around 8-9K because I get nervous. ha!

Real World MPG with 5th Gen?

17 average in the winter, a bit less in the summer. Super consistent and always 87.
